Danielle Stenger (she/her)

Hi, I’m Danielle Stenger (she/her/hers) - birth doula, facilitator, and parent who believes that birth is more than just a medical event - it’s a deeply transformative experience.

I became a doula after my own birth journeys revealed just how much the right support can change everything. My first birth was an unexpected C-section. My second was an unmedicated VBAC. Both experiences taught me the power of informed choices, the importance of aligning providers with my values and desired birth experience, and the need for compassionate, informed support.

My husband and I did not hire a doula for either of our births, and while he was an incredible source of support for me, we both now recognize how valuable a doula’s presence would have been. I read all the books and thought I knew what to expect (both times!), but having never witnessed a birth beyond my own, I came to understand the importance of a knowledgeable, steady presence to help navigate decisions, provide reassurance, and ensure that both my partner and I felt truly supported and informed.

Now, I bring that support to you.

Every doula carries the gifts of their personal and professional life experiences into their work. Alongside my training in birth doula care, I have worked for over 15 years supporting social issues in the nonprofit sector, served as a neutral meeting facilitator, and am trained in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a framework that fosters clear, kind, and respectful communication (whether in boardrooms, between partners, or between clients and medical providers). These skills enable me to help parents explore their options, understand their choices, help advocate as needed, and move forward with confidence through every decision and milestone.

As a doula, I work alongside birth givers and their families to co-facilitate positive birthing experiences. Whether birth is given by induction, at home, in the hospital, vaginally, or by cesarean - how the birth giver and their family feels about the experience is what matters most. It is my goal to uphold a culture of care and support for the many ways of birthing, parenting, caregiving, and creating families.

I strongly uphold the belief: Your body, your birth. How we feel when we bring our children into the world matters. I approach you and your pregnancy the same way I hope to see you approach your birth - empowered, honest, and open. We birth as we live.

You can find me out in our community supporting the local nonprofit 3Hopeful Hearts, enjoying time with my family, in the mountains, curled up with a book, or at a birth.
